Project description: The project consists of 200 sleeping rooms for high-quality bachelor housing apartments for wounded warriors, their families and non-medical attendants, and transitioning U.S. Navy personnel. The project meets private sector residential standards that provide a safe, energy efficient, durable, and low maintenance facility with a low life-cycle cost. The apartment building and site are designed to fit into the surrounding architectural environment. The project incorporates sustainable principles in the design, development, and construction to achieve a minimum LEED Silver certification. The adjacent 166,000-square-foot, 470-space parking garage features LED lighting and a photovoltaic field on the upper level that will produce 225 KW (DC) of power for the Lodge’s electrical system.
